WWTF VRG: Tenure Track Professorship at the University of Vienna

We are looking for applicants that develop cutting-edge AI/ML concepts, approaches, and methods to advance a specific research field or discipline. Emphasis will be placed on the advancement of AI/ML concepts, approaches and methods and the transformative potential of the AI/ML-informed proposed research for the respective discipline.

The aim of this announcement is to source exceptional candidates, who, once selected by the University of Vienna, will then go on to submit an application together with an experienced host scientist (proponent) at the University of Vienna, to the current call for young investigators by the Vienna Science and Technology Fund.

To apply, you need the support of a proponent from the Faculty of Computer Science. Please contact the university professors and associate professors who are closest to your interests and discuss any further steps in the application process with them. Your proponent will also inform you where to submit your application.

Please prepare the following documents for an application (application deadline is January 1, 2025):

  • Who is the proponent at the Faculty of Computer Science? (e-mail with confirmation from the proponent is sufficient)
  • Academic CV
  • (separate) letter of motivation (answer to ‘Why do you want to apply for a WWTF VRG at the Faculty of Computer Science?’ - max. 1 page)
  • (separate) abstract of the planned project idea for the VRG application (max. 1 page)
  • (separate) General personal research plan for the next 5+ years (beyond the VRG application - max. 1 page)
  • (separate) summary of previous university teaching experience (which courses, when, in which roles)
