The reason we celebrate this Day is to make sure it becomes not a story about exceptional women but a norm that girls belong and succeed in science and technology. – Anya Daneez Khan

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11 raises awareness, among other things, of the continued underrepresentation of women* in STEM disciplines. Ten female researchers from the Faculty of Computer Science introduce themselves and their research on this occasion.

These research departments of the University of Vienna are also participating in this year's joint campaign: The faculties of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physics, as well as the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science at the University of Vienna, the Max Perutz Labs and the Research Network Data Science @ Uni Vienna.

(No) Walk in the Park - 125 Years of Women at the University of Vienna

Not only was there a significant period between the founding of the university and the admission of the first female students, but also partly between each individual step towards equality. Each additional win meant another hard fight. The timeline can be followed in the project (No) Walk in the Park - 125 Years of Women at the University of Vienna.
